So being an employee of Cabelas has benefits and downfalls, the discount is both haha. So today I bought a BRO Fallout 15 in digi camo. I get a great deal on Vortex products so obviously the Razor Gen II 1-6x24 is staring right at me. Is the scope overkill for me? I wont be doing any form of competitions, just target shooting and probably coyotes and other pests. I have a 6-24x50 Viper PST on a bolt 308 and i love the illumination, but the illumination on the Razor isn't very big, i like the 1-4x24 PST with the bigger reticle, but the extra 2 zoom would be nice. What are your opinions. We get Eotech and Trijcon discounts, but they don't compare to the Vortex. Also what would be a good mount? I've seen an SWFA mount that looks nice, or would a Vortex cantilever do me fine? Any suggestions on bases would be helpful as I've never looked at these types of bases.

Can't speak for the Gen II 1-6, but I owned one of the original 1-4x Razor HD riflescopes, and was very happy with it. Glass was clear, and it was tough as nails. I would highly recommend any Vortex Razor product. I don't think it's overkill either, you could probably get away with less, but why compromise with an inferior scope if you don't have to? As for the mounts, the Vortex QD mounts are made by ADM. They're OK, but I prefer LaRue as I find the return to zero is near perfect. If you're going to go with fixed rings, I like Badger Ordnance rings.

The vortex gen 2 1-6x I had rocked. a little heavy is the only downside. Glass is awesome and it's very reliable and get the switchview
