Thanks, KC.

Here's a picture of a Kim Breed next to the Crow.

Premium, I actually gave both the Cruiser and the Stryder away, to other troops. I don't want to sound like I'm a saint, or anything- they were both given to me, and I just passed 'em on. :)

Not a bowie knife, but it has a similar blade pattern:

It's a Becker BK7. It was apparently designed as a replacement for the Ka-Bar, but the .mil folks weren't buying. As far as I know, these haven't been sold since Camillus went out of business, but I heard the guy who designed them is looking for another manufacturer. It makes a very decent utility knife, though its a bit heavy.

not possible. no man can make a better blade than the Ka-Bar, a knife designed by the gods.

Can I be the first to say that the Kabar has never really impressed me? I just don't get the hype that many attribute to this knife.

KC,

I think a Damascus Breed with about a 7 1/2" blade will run you around $800, depending on handle material.

The Ka-Bar is a hard design to beat.

Supposedly they will be put in production by Ka-Bar after the 2009 shot show.

According to Ethan Becker they were good sellers at camillus and their demise was more related to Camillus closing their doors.

I got a becker necker. I like the knife but hate the bottle opener like none other. The thing rubs on my hand so I've never used mine. I'll probably trade it of give it away for a bday/xmas present when I don't want to buy something. I'm still pissed I didn't buy a Bk7 when I had the chance. I ordered one right as camillus went out of business so they were permanently out of stock where I ordered from. Then I was going to to the Extreme or whatever it was called in s30v but it was sold out at knifecenter so I never did that either. I just hope they bring the BK7 back into production. I don't think I'll buy the base model as it will probably be 1095 and instead get one in D2 or S30v(whatever Kabar feels like making them in if they do make them).

Here's a Custom Bagwell Hell's Belle, Custom Bagwell Bowie, Custom Greg Covington Bowie & Hawk, and a Custom Bowie by Matt Lamey.

Mike,

I'm not usually much for stag, but that Covington is sweet.

Also, remind me to keep my distance if you're ever pissed at me. :D

Mike would have speed, and the back cut.

And protective armwear. KC, you might benefit from looking up good bowie fighting technique.

Look at my recent threads with the Razor Sword and small knife effectiveness.

Thick leather might mean that you just get a bruise instead of a debilitating cut.

A Damascus Bladed Bowie from Bear Cutlery. Actually, mine has a smooth white-bone handle and I love carrying it while hunting. Maybe a Grizzly wouldn't laugh itself to death if I were reduced to brandishing it...
