Anyone have experience with Boyds Stocks. I've been eyeing one for my T/C Venture, but wanted to know if they are a good stock or not. I really like the look of their Feather Weight Thumbhole stock. Is there any other stock company someone suggest that doesnt break the bank?

The one on my CMP M1Garand is just fine. One more is on order for my Savage Bmag. Should arrive soon.

I have bought three so far and put them on savages they are great for the price. The stock did not have any "bedding " material like aluminum etc. They look great and really were a vast improvement over the flimsy composite factory stock

I put one on a Rem. Model 7 and absolutely loved it. I chose the Prarie Hunter nutmeg and it was only great looking but it fit perfectly and my cheek weld with a scope was ideal.

Good stuff. Not custom quality but at least as good as OEM. I have a handful and got the latest last week. A forest camo laminate for my Ruger American Rimfire. The laser cut stippling is a nice addition.

This is my m38 that I just love. I did remove a little extra wood at the thumbhole. Used acraglass gel to bed the action. The finish is lots of coats of tru-oil. The only problem I have is the fact that it was channeled for a #1 barrel and I still have the stock military barrel. I just need to get busy ordering the new barrel. Everyone who sees it likes it.

Post a picture of a hole through it when you get the new iPad.

I like the Boyd stock I got for this 03A3. Would not hesitate to get another if the project called for it.

I've since put a black M1907 leather sling on it as a homage to its military past. It's really a sharp looking and accurate shooting rifle

I found they are good quality for the price. Not a custom stock but as good as OEM. Certainly something you can work with.

I bought one last year for my kids Rem 783. It is a Prairie Hunter in the Nutmeg. It took very little work to dial it in. I glass bedded the stock and cut it down to fit him. He shoots it very well.

I have two on Mosins.
Most will be at least very close to a drop-in fit, but don't count on it.
Some need minor trimming & others can take some time to mate to your metal.

Has anyone order one with the checkering option, and did it turn out black or does the color come through?

I have one with the laser checkering. It's definitely blackish.

I've been trying to get around to having my stock bedded. Do most people get these bedded or do some just use them as is?

I recently bought one for my Ruger American Ranch Rifle. Probably the best gun accessory money Ive ever spent.

I like their quality, but if you want raw, unfinished wood it costs extra. Didn't care for that little detail.

Also, the stocks I've bought were all a little "proud", and needed to be worked down to finish dimensions, as far as flush with metal surfaces, buttplates, etc. the Garand set I bought was huge compared to correct WWII stock dimensions. That one needed a LOT of shaving and sanding but looked great afterwards.

Same with a set for my Winchester 94, took a lot of shaving, sanding and final fitting.

I still need to finish shaving and sanding a set for an M1 Carbine I have.

A small block plane, round file/rasp, sandpaper assortment and sanding block, and a sharp 1/4" wood chisel will come in handy.

Miss their Crazy Deals and Factory Seconds! What do they do with the stocks with minor defects anyway! They used to offer unfinished stocks for almost all models as well, now they go higher price and I stop buying!
