Thats awesome! Im glad you went with the old hickory knives as prizes. Any particular reason why you chose the pig sticker knives rather than the butcher or sheep skinner? Not saying it was a bad choice at all...just most folks consider the butcher and sheep skinner to be "original" buckskinner knives. I would definately had chosen one of them pig stickers as a prize....but im not much of a winner when it comes to competing against them sharp shooting old timers haha...they got skill im lackin.

I ordered four knives and an ice pick for the prizes. All from old hickory. The butcher knife and the skinner came in on time and were given as prizes. The ice pick was my blanket prize . For any that dont know what a blanket shoot is...I'll explain: everyone brings a $15 prize and lays it on the blanket. After the targets are scored, first place gets first pick from the prizes on the blanket. Second place gets second choice, and so forth. I disqualified myself from the competition, but was participating in the blanket shoot. I chose last...and none had chosen the ice pick.....so I got it too!.
The old hickory butcher and skinner were very well liked as prizes.
We had another member bring a target and prize that we all shot. It was a delicious looking peanut butter pie!
With the extra target and the good turnout, we were all ready to eat so we decided to put our guns away and eat. We didnt shoot one relay, so I didnt need one prize. I won one relay, and my friends insisted that I not disqualify myself, and keep the prize knife myself.(which hadn't been shipped yet)

So, everything worked out.
It's crazy that it took this long for two of the knives to be delivered!
To answer your question @TheOutlawKid ..most of the club members are VERY obsessed with the primitive arts. Seriously.
They live it. Most of them have their primitive knives already. In fact, it's a thing with them (us). We have a primitive cookoff at the fort(yes we have an actual fort in Palestine, Illinois Ft Lamotte.) I chose the pig stickers mainly because I liked the look of them. I thought they would make a great primitive looking sheath knife.
They look like Gus McCrae's on 'Lonesome Dove'....that sold me! 20200417_164610.jpg

Two of my prizes that I ordered for my March 8th event finally arrived today on the big brown truck.

View attachment 909139 ...only 5 weeks late, lol.
I was short two prizes, but as luck would have it, I won one of the prizes myself, and we had enough competitors that we were running short of time to shoot our final target before mrs was serving the chili and cornbread.
These two Old Hickory pig stickers will be saved for my sixth annual shoot. (Unless I claim one for myself!)
i would like to order one or 2 of these knives so would you share the website so I can order them? thanks :)

No need to order from Old Hickory. Midway sells them a little cheaper. I have thought about ordering a couple of the "Sticker" knives and popping the wood scales off of one and making a spear out of it. Maybe one of the Assegai short African spears.

The scales on OH knives are easy to remove. I always take them off and add epoxy between the wood and blade and reinstall the rivets. Then set them in a can of linseed oil for a day or two to soak into the wood.

Ebay also has lots of them too.

Perhaps next year you could simply do a basic pack but leave out the stuff everybody has or wants some thing specific. A nice belt pouch, a small fixed blade, an interesting oversized but able to be cut down powder/shot measure, maybe a tin cup with something stamped on it with steel stamps as a memento. Just thinking about what I would have at hand if I were a mountaineering lonely soul sitting by a campfire in the evening.

the more I think on it the more I like the tin cup idea. steel stamps are cheap and you can make it say whatever you want. Winners get something out of the pack... could be some really neat stuff.

I bought the 7" field knife and the ice pick and two stickers for prizes.
I won a skinner at one of our club shoots a few years ago. Its a very nice knife... and that skinner is also the best knife that I have ever seen or used, for cutting sweet corn off the cob...hands down!
My family has always raised a large patch of sweet corn. Every summer we gather together and shuck, cut, cook and bag lots of sweet corn for the freezer. It's an all-day affair. The upswept blade makes quick work of an ear of corn or a deer hide.
