Why does it seem like the main character is always the the white guy and all of the minorities seem to have the problems. Would it have made a difference if Clarence was from a different cultural background? His Aunt was white but were they referring to her as being an unintelligent woman?

Usually when I've seen that situation posed to strongly anti-gun people, they say they still wouldn't handle a gun.
"Not even to protect your family?"
"No."
"Does your family know you have this attitude and that you value the life of a rapist or murderer above theirs?"
