Brass heads tamps and loads

Greetings,

Really stupid question of the day:

I am loading my 223 mid-load: 25.1 grains TAC under 55 grains FMJ.

I segregate my brass by head stamp. I noticed no difference at 100 yards in grouping or pressure signs with PMC, PPU, RP, LC brass.

Am I really better to lower .5 grains when I use LC brass instead of PMC or RP brass?

Some LC brass is lighter, and some heavier than commercial brass, so I don't know.

Sort it by weight, not necassarily headstamp, if you want to try to improve accuracy at 100 yards. Use an accurate bullet. Work up an accurate load in that weight range.

For blasting/plinking ammo I just lump all the brass together. I make sure my load is safe with the heaviest weight brass and forget about it. As long as it shoots pretty well, which is all you will get with cheap 55 Gr FMJ, I am happy.

For loads to shoot good groups with, you will need to take more care, and definitely use a better bullet.

I do the same as Walkalong. For general shooting, I don't separate my brass, but for serious work, I do. That goes for my AR's and my bolt rifles in .223.

What's interesting is one of my best targets, .625" for 5 shots at 200 yards, was fired with mixed brass and pulled bullets, through my Remington Model 700 Varminter. I've tried to duplicate that target by separating my brass and weighing bullets (not pulled, but new) weighing charges, etc., but I haven't been able to. Some things are just not explainable......
