I am loading 308 and on some of my brass I am noticing a bulge type ring around the neck just above the shoulder. I checked a few and they will take a bullet and chamber, should I be concerned, is it a problem with my die adjustment?

Here ya go.

I am just seating the primers at this point, it has only gone through the resizing die.

Thanks for your help

From looking at that picture one of your dies is adjusted too low and is pushing down on the brass so much it's "crushing" it or more like pushing it down so much it's buckling.

I only put it through the resizing die with the decaping pin in place. Is there another part that is causing the problem? Do I need to back the decaping pin out a little?

Looks like you Partial Full Length Resizing. Make sure you shell holder hits the bottom of the full length resizing die when the ram is all the way up.

the pics are fuzzy and hard to tell but to me it looks like the neck isn't being fully resized

sharpie a case and run it into your die and see if the marker is rubbed off all the way down the neck.

is it a problem with my die adjustment?
well how are your dies adjusted??

Is your shell holder almost touching the sizing die, or is there a visible gap between them?

It looks like you have backed off too much, it should just meet the shoulder when adjusted properly.

I dunno, that to me looks like you are only partially resizing the neck of the case. Which would imply the resizing die was not adjusted down enough.

You say you can seat a bullet and it chambers?

I have crushed shoulders before with a die adjusted too low, but the bulge in that case was at the junction o the shoulder and the main diameter of the case, not the neck - and they would not chamber.

Some shooters only partially neck size brass if they are only reloading for one rifle believing its a more accurate reload.

Well 243 you are a genius. I backed the die out some because I was crushing the shoulder, but I think that was caused by to much lube. I did a little more tinkering and got rid of the "bulge" and have great looking shoulders. Thanks for all the help and patience every one.

A sharp photo would help...

I think you are only sizing part of the neck.

You have to yet said how you have your die adjusted, several have asked, but no answer.

Lots of us here would like to help, but we need more info.
