Broke the scope - in half!

My buddy is shooting an old H&R 20 gauge with a muzzle loader barrel. So far, he's been through two scopes in less than 50 rounds.

The first one was a 3-9X Bushnell. The internals broke and the scope won't hold a zero.

The second one was a 3-9X Weaver. This one literally broke in half around the turret assembly.

It's a side-mount base with weaver style rings. Anyone heard of anything like this before?

I broke a the internals of a 3-9 Bushnell on a .22 rifle.

reminds me of the time I broke a bushnell on an airgun when I hit a tree.

So far in my little venture with optics, I gotta say Leapers makes some good stuff. www.clearviewinvest.com has some great deals on leaper's scopes. I got my T168 for way under retail from them.

I think your buddy need to figure out how to get and use iron sights.

I can see a cheapie Busnell breaking, but the Weaver? Is it one of those newer Weavers and where is it made?

i broke the scope on my 17HMR wouldnt hold zero for anything.

Get a Nikon

Try a scope ment for use on a shotgun. They seem to be better able to handle the recoil.
