The Mauser C96 "Broomhandle", being a clip fed pistol with a fixed magazine, does it have any provision for a +1.

For Instance,
Unless I am doing something wrong, I cannot +1 my mosin nagant, which also was clip fed.

If the extractor was designed to allow it, you should be able to load the magazine fully, open the bolt, drop a round in the chamber, and close the bolt while holding the rounds in the magazine down. With the Mosin, I believe the extractor won't want to snap over the rim of the round in the chamber.

The M-N chamber can't be loaded with a +1 because the top round in the magazine can't be pushed down out of the way of the bolt. The extractor has nothing to do with it.

The same is true with the C96. When the magazine is full with ten rounds there is not enough room to push the cartridge column down to get the bolt closed.

In both guns, single round feeding is possible with an empty or partially full magazine. The magazine can be loaded with less than the maximum capacity. The fact that they load with a clip is not really relevant.

Some rifles, like the U.S. M1903 can be single loaded with full magazine because it was designed that way to allow the magazine to be held in reserve. The U.S. Model 1917 can have a round added after the 5 rounds of the clip are loaded because the magazine was designed for a larger base cartridge and can actually hold six rounds of .30-'06.
