Im trying to help my brother in law find a good HD pistol and he really liked the Ruger P95. The problem is that his girlfriend cant hold the pistol very well, so we are looking at other options. He has a 300 dollar budget and wants a caliber thats easily found...ie..9mm or .40.

How is the new Sigma....SW99VE?. I have heard bad things about the old ones, but are the new ones any good?

Im also going to show him a Taurus P111. I have fired the P145 and that was a decent little gun. Is it safe to assume that the 9mm version is just as good?

Thanks.

My wife liked the Sigma at first touch. I bought one, 9VE. She shoots it very well.

Who notes you have to try it. It is also a common range rental gun, so call around.

Perhaps a used CZ75b. I paid too much for mine, 350, seems like you could get one for 300. The only reason I mention it is that I moved my daughter up to one (from a .22). She shoots it well and is comfortable with it. She has small hands. The cz has a factory rubber grip that's very comfortable. Reliable, easy to break down and clean, 9mm is cheap and there is a .22 conversion if you care to have some fun with it.

What about a good new or used Ruger, Smith or Taurus .357? They're reliable, easily handled, safe, and you can literally tailor the loads to just about any level of recoil sensitivity, from .38 wadcutters to 125 grain .357 JHPs.
