Has anyone tried both Brownells' Oxpho Blue and Kleen Bore Black magic? Results, suggestions, ect......I have a Blackhawk that has some holster wear I want to touch up.

Thanks

I haven't used the Kleen Bore product but I recently touched up some holster wear on one of my Blackhawks with the Oxpho Blue. It looks better than the holster wear but it turned out a little "bluer" than the factory Ruger finish. Not by much but you can still see it.

I stripped the bluing off a gun and completely reblued it with oxpho blue and was very happy with the result.

I have used lots of Oxpho blue, but I've never used the Kleen bore stuff. I have tried something from Birchwood Casey that looks similar, I'm fairly happy with Oxpho, not so much with the others. The trick to Oxpho is to pour what you think you will need into a small glass and let it "breathe" for a few minutes-kinda gets the chemicals going a bit I guess. I've also found if you are fixing a gloss finish, put a coat or two more than what looks like enough, because you will need to buff it with 0000 steel wool and oil(I like Rem-oil)
