I'm thinking of buying a used Browning 9mm HP but I don't know much about them.
I looked on Browning site and found the HP but it looks alot diffrent than the one I'm thinking of buying . The one I'm thinking of buying has a kinda oval shape in the hammer , the new ones don't . Also the new one have plastic or ruber grips , the other one has wood checkered grips .
I've seen pics of the one I'm looking to buy and some of them have detachable wood stocks .
If you type in " Browning 9mm High Power " use yahoo the fist link show the one with the stock .

How dependable , acurate and how much is the gun worth ?
The gun is in very good condition .

Can anyone tell me more about this pistol ?
Thanks .

Go to "Highpowers and Handguns" site. More than you'll ever need in information...pictures with tags as to which models are pictured, modifications, lots of questions and commentary. The gun you are looking at is most likely an earlier version with round hammer, and factory walnut stocks. They all came that way from 1935 to the late 1960's, when they went to a spur hammer and made some other internal changes. Then later, they had plastic stocks. Then there are many other variations, from several manufacturers, including sights, internal modifications, and grips.

The Browning Hi Power is has been the standard sidearm for many of the worlds military forces. Great Britain and Canada to name 2. The rounded hammer and wood grips is typical of commercial and military HP's prior to some time in the lat 70's or early 80's when Browning started fitting them with white outline sights, spur hammer and plastic grips though they continued to offer adjustable sights, wood grips and old style hammer on some models.

Current market value is from around $700 to $1000+ depending upon condition and if its all Belgian manufacture or not.

The HP has the best feel of any gun that I own and fills and fits my hand perfectly. Accuracy is excellent and on par with any service semi auto.

I'm a little confused by your post. Have you located a HiPower for sale and are you looking for information on it? If you are, get the serial number and all the markings on it and then you can get more information.

This is what made me think you have found one you are asking about. Hammers and grips can be changed. It may be old or it may be relatively new. It could be from Argentina. More information is needed.

We can't tell you anything about the pistol you are asking about because we don't have enough information to know exactly what pistol you are asking about.

The High Power has been made since 1935. There are many variations, military contracts, police contracts, and regular production guns out there. There are also variations made by Inglis, German occupied Belgium in WWII, Argentina (FM), and outright copies.

With all those variables, no way to give you an idea of a price on a gun that, based on your description, could be anything.
