I am still looking for a decent .22lr pistol. It will be a general purpose gun, used as a trainer, range plinker, steel plate shooter and light hunting. I didn't want to spend much(<$300) the pot metal P22 and Mosquito didn't impress me and a 22A I've had in the past was jam-o-matic. The other option under 3 bills is the Beretta NEOS :barf: and besides that the thin raked grip does not fit.
Stepping up I hear great things about the Browning Buckmarks I'd likely go with a basic blued UDX with the FO front sight.
So, anything from THR on these pistols? good, bad, eeh?
The other option is to step to an even higher price and get Sig 220/226/229 in .22lr

thanks

Buckmark does sound like the way to go. I've been pondering the same thing. I would love to get a Mosquito if I could be sure it'd work, same goes for getting a .22 conversion for my P229R, will it work?

I think I'm gonna go with what's proven, a Buckmark or Ruger MKII. Probably a Buckmark.

The Buckmark has performed well for me. Perfect introduction for my 2 girls. Very accurate and easy to shoot. Supposedly easier to disassemble than a Ruger Mark II or III from what I've read.

Don't forget the Sig Trailside if you can find one.

I've owned a few .22LR semi-autos over the years. The three I still have are a Buckmark Camper with the fiber optic front sight, a Beretta M87, and a Beretta M87 Target. I thought I'd sell the Buckmark when I got the M87, but my daughters and their friends love it. I paid $249 for it seven years ago, and consider it a bargain.

I have a Buckmark Camper. Its a lot of fun to shoot. My only complaint is that the 10 round magazine runs out of bullets way too fast. Extra magazines are expensive at around $30.

I purchased the camper urx practical a few months ago. I have had 0 problems so far with the gun but did have some issues with some Remington ammo. I liked the feel of the Browning more than the Ruger.
i just checked Midway and they have magazines for 21.99. Also if you have a 03ffl you can get some good discounts.

I just gave my P22 to my son and am buying another Buckmark. The P22 is just fine and very reliable, but the accuracy and ergonomics just aren't there.

My last Buckmark got stolen and I replaced it with the P22, which was a mistake. I shot the old Buckmark for at least ten years. It was close to 100% reliable and was beer can accurate out to at least 75 yards. I don't have any reason to expect less of the new Buckmark.

I bought a used Buck Mark Camper a few months ago from a guy for $200. It was just filthy dirty, but still shot great. I've since cleaned it up and replaced the rear sight mount with one that has a rail, and mounted a red-dot sight on it. Also replaced the extractor and recoil spring, and the little C-clip that holds the spring onto the guide rod was missing, so I got one of those too. Haven't got the chance to take it back out yet, but I'm expecting it to do great deeds.

And FWIW - I bought a "Gun Guide" book from Midway that has great detailed instructions on how to completely disassemble the Buck Marks, info that's not in their manuals. Very good to have! I also picked up some extra mags and a mag loader from Midway. Seems like most of their parts are genuine Browning, and that mag loader is the shizz!

Nice gun

I love my Buckmark. It's very tight, and it does NOT like cheap, bulk ammo, but with quality ammo, it is a pleasure to shoot.
Kinda purdy too...

I barely shot my Buckmark I purchased a couple months ago due to relocating and not being able to bring my guns with me, but from the little shooting I got in with it, I love it.

And if you're thinking about getting a Sig (other than the Mosquito) in 22lr, keep other offerings in mind for quality semi-automatic 22lr's like the CZ Kadet.

if your going to consider the Buckmark, I would also consider the Mk III
