BHP FAN-here's one with an adjusable sight!

Yeah, all the way to 500 yards?:)

KodiakBeer, that's a nice lookin' BHP.

I would like to have some sights put on mine, but I'm scared of gunsmiths.
Guess I'll have to work up some courage and hope my pistol doesn't get screwed up.

BHP is the very first '' Wondernine '' and it is absolutely the '' King of Nines ''...

And it is the high capacity heaven for small hands and short fingers...

It is an accurate, reliable full size pistol with pretty much elegant lines...

And it is my absolute the most favorite semiautomatic pistol...

It is nice to see more shooters discovering the wonderworld of the BHP in this supposed to be '' Wonder plastics '' age...

You gotta love the Hi-Power, just ignore the 1911. Both were done by Austin Behlert IMG_2952.gif

I've have been trying to decide on which full size 9 to add.
I like the 92FS in SS I held yesterday and I held a Hi Power Mk111 today at one of the lgs
The Hi Power feels very nice and I like the SA trigger. It's about $120 more than the 92.
The Browning website doesn't seem to offer much info.
Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the standard and mk111 beside appearance?

Technically, all the new Hi Powers are Mark III's, since that is designation for the version out since about 1990. The "standard" is a blued finish with wood grips (it's more traditional) and the other "Mark III" is an epoxy finish with plastic grips.

Thanks for posting pictures of your HP's.
I hereby give permission to everyone to buy another HP. So let it be written...

GunNut - Is that new or pre-loved? Are those factory grips or aftermarket? Those are the grips I prefer on a BHP but I also prefer the rounded hammer, think Walther PPK. I don't know a bunch of specific model numbers, etc. about BHPs but every one I have every picked up and fired shoots well. Likewise, every single one with the spur hammer I have shot has bitten my on the web between my thumb and forefinger. Ouch!

Back to the grips, I have searched for similar grips for my old S&W 459 and can't come up with anything. Pachmyer (spelling?) gets close to that style with the 459 but not quite there.

rellascout, that top gun is exactly what I've always wanted in a hi-power. C&S hammer, trigger, and safety, Spiegel grips and Novak sights. That gun is beautiful. Aw... someday.

Navidrex slims were a must for me!

I pulled the mag disconnect, put in a 24# main spring and had Chuck Warner install a tool steel sear with a radius grind on the engagement surface. This cleaned up the trigger very nicely.

I never really intended this HP to be a carry piece, but in a Don Hume pancake, it's really an easy carry, and I shoot it pretty well.

Here's my write up on the changes.....

Thanks it is my favorite BHP in the stable. It is a 1972 base gun which I sent to Wild West Guns in AK. Jim West, Ken and the boys hooked it up.

It has a C&S hammer & sear, wide trigger, Novak nights & C&S wide combat safety. Good eye on the grip they are Spegel presentation grade. It sometimes also wears Navedrix slims in black which are my favorit BHP tactical cool grip.

They milled the slide to fit the sights. They also did a nice trigger job on the gun. It is set at 5.5lbs and is crisp. Reset seems better on this BHP than the others I own.

Everybody interested in Hi-Power's needs to at least make a stop at the late Mr. Camp's "Hi-Power's and Handgun's" site. An outstanding source for information on Hi-Power's and pistols in general.

rellascout,
I've shot a few hi-powers, but the only one I own right now is a Charles Daly clone. I already had an idea for what I want in a BHP someday, and the CD is pretty close even if it's an FEG gun. The Uncle Mikes grips are great, and I am a big fan of the single side FEG safety. It already has Novak cuts in the slide, so I may swap out the Express sights at some point. What I really want to do though, is get a BHP and build it up like that one.

It's pre-owned but in like new condition. Love the epoxy coating and black grips, although I do have a hankering for some G10 grips.

Haven't had any issues with hammer bite yet, but have not shot it a lot.

The Hi Power is without a doubt one of the best out there. Here is mine...a matte hard chrome with all Cylinder & Slide fire control parts.

Definitely one of the finest combat pistols ever made. A true classic.

Congratulations!
Took the words right out of my mouth. I know the special forces loved these in Vietnam and many Spec Ops still use it today.

There are just a few pistol designs that will live on forever (Hi-Power, 1911, Beretta 92 etc.).

-Cheers
