Browning T-Bolt .22lr...

Ok I went to Cabela's today to purchase my father-in-law a CZ 452 .22lr. They did not have it in stock! OUCH! So rather than leave empty handed and without a .22lr for my father-in-law I instead bought him a Browning T-Bolt .22lr...

So can someone please let me know if these are good accurate .22lrs? Do they shoot as well as the CZ 452s?

From the results I've gotten from my new model T-Bolt (wood Varmint/Target), it does shoot as well as my 452s (Training Rifle, Ultra Luxes, American, Varmint, Scout), at least with match grade ammo. I do have to say that build quality-wise, even though the CZs are well above average as compared to other rimfires under $500, the T-Bolt is even slightly higher. But, then again, it is more expensive.

Actions will be a little stiff at first, but this is true for any gun, particularly rimfires. Trigger is a little difficlt to work on as compared to the CZs and there is very limited aftermarket for the Brownings for the time being.

I have not shot one, but looking at the features, I must say, the brownings are impressive. Is this the one with the infinite/figure 8 magazine? those are supposed to be supremely good...

Yes, the new models have the helical mags. The older T-Bolts have straight single stack box mags.

The new mags are pretty good, a little better than the 10/22 rotoray mag. The T-Bolt's mag has a little gear that can be worked by the weak thumb or finger to aid loading and is dimensionally smaller overall. The mag well is also well designed. The latch is similar to the CZ's and Izhmash Biathlon Basic/7-X in that it is a simple lever just in front of the mag (when it is in the mag well) and a simple natural flick backward ejectst he mag. The mag well has a spring inside that aids in ejecting the mag out. It'll pop out even when the gun is upside down and the bolt is open. One of the things I've done is to see just how far the spring will eject the mag when the gun is staright up vertical with the butt on the floor. (About 3 feet including bounces.) They are a bit expensive, though, but most Browning mags are.
