I have a Hi-Point .45 which funtions very well, although I wish the mag release spring were a bit firmer. I have 2 Jennings .22 that will be gone at the next police buyback. Unreliable and underpowered.

Could we just call it The Throwdown Club and include not only the beautiful Brycos,lovely Lorcins,fabulous Phoenixes and ravashing Ravens but also gorgeous Grendels?

This little gem was carried in some dude's boot for years and was so gunked up with lint and foot funk that it was a click click bang click click click bang proposition.It took almost as long to shoot as load,an incredible piece of machinery indeed.A good solid cleaning made it almost reliable enough to practice malfunction drills,except for that having to pretend to tap the magazine part.



If this wasn't in the auto section,I'd put up some pics of such gems as an Iver Johnson .32 with the chrome mostly flaked off, a mint condition RG22 and a couple unknown Belgian and Spanish maker break-top .38's.

I used to have a Hi-Point .45 till I traded it for another gun.

Granted I only fired 50 rounds through it, buut didn't have a FTF or stovepipe. I friend who brought his the same day fired more though his with no problem.

I'm planing on a buying a 9 and another .45. Personally I think Hi-points are much better then the other "cheap" guns on the market.

Just like even the best makers make a bad gun from time to time, it follows that even the worst will make some good ones.

I've alwyas said the Jennings/Bryco/Lorcin/Davis etc. are highly reliable single shot firearms with a significant possibility of multiple shots. Since most SD usage of firearms end without a shot being fired, these guns play a valid roll for folks without a lot of money and near zero interest in guns as a hobby.

Hi-points are a street favorite gun. I can't believe that for a few dollars more that they couldn't have designed it to take down and CLEAN without having to push a roll pin out of the slide.

Sadly my Jennings Bryco in .380 has gone the way of my '71 Dodge Dart. The fond memories;
- How it fit my hand like a badly undersized glove
- Easily striking the target in the lane next to mine at 25 yards without even trying
- Cleaning the stripped metal out of the trigger housing after each box of ammo
- The little way in which that plastic doohicky in the back of the slide stuck out more and more with each round fired.

Like the dart a true generational classic. I will say this: After the 100 round break-in that baby never jammed.

Wow! That's one sweet lookin' shootin' iron. I wish they were better than Sigs because the price is sure right. I have to admit I have owned a few cheap-zinc-alloy-non-sporting-type-weapons (SNS for short). Some are decent shooters but the slides tend to wear out faster than a steel slide. I've only heard one first hand story of one that broke in such a way that it caused an injury. My Davis .380 cracked a slide after 200 rounds but it didn't blow up and Davis fixed it for free. My Bryco 38 bit my hand every time I pulled the trigger but it was very reliable. My Bryco 48 and Jennings .22 work perfectly and shoot where I aim them. My Jennings really likes stingers and mini mags. I don't like the Hi-Point C9 because it seems to have feeding issues but I did own a Hi-Point .45 and it was accurate and reliable. The only bummer was it was so front/top heavy. I don't care about the ugly factor as long as it works.

Outofbattery, the Grendel P12 was an improvement over that P10. It goes bang every time, though it's not any more accurate than my friggin' NAA mini revolver, but if the shots are 15 yards, I can hit the torso every time, and the magazine comes apart for cleaning and is removable with a heal/clip release which I like. If I sit on it, the mag won't pop loose. Actually, my benched 25 yard groups with this gun are in the 6-7" range, which is not really confidence inspiring. Oh, yeah, I know, the average gunfight is at 7 yards. Well, it MIGHT not be at 7 yards. It MIGHT be at 25, you just never know.

I don't carry this thing much, prefer my P11 Kel Tec's caliber and accuracy. But it IS 100 percent reliable with my carry load.

I'm sorry, don't own a Bryco/Jennings/high point. This Grendel is as ugly as I can stomach. ROFL!

That's because you don't need to take them down to clean them. Squirt some gunscrubber in it, run a patch or two down the barrel, take some Q-tips and clean what you can reach through the ejection port, and let it go. I broke mine down after about 1500 rounds, and didn't find enough stuff to clean to make it worthwhile.

Hi-Point C-9. About 2000 rounds. A few jams, but not as many as a half-dozen I don't think. This picture was taken when it was new, and the sights hadn't been adjusted.
