The 659 is a second generation S&W. The 5906 is a third generation. I'm not surprised to hear S&W doesn't have any parts for the 659 as its been out of production since 1988 or so. However, the 3rd generations just officially went out of production last year and quite a few police departments still issue them. I suspect S&W has plenty of parts for them now, in 10 or 20 years, probably not so much.
