Buds Gun Shop, Online purchases

Have had pleasant experiences with them in the past but as of recent (two days ago) I inquired about a p229 in 357sig. I just wanted to know what the budspolicesupply price would be and if they had ANY notion of when they would have them in stock... got a "we're out of stock" response. I said, "thanks I could tell that from the website. If you'll review my last question I asked...." got a response about how they didn't renew the Sig IOP program for 2011. Well I guess they just lost my business for that one.

As with anything on the web make sure you know what you're getting. Pictures are often wrong on their website, and some items will show out of stock and you continue looking and you find the same item in-stock with a different title.

Good prices, but they need to purge the junk and duplicates out of their online catalog.

thanks guys! i still have some time, but i am starting to shop around.

I will be hitting the guns shows and my local shops when i get home.

Definitely gonna keep an eye on the Police Supply site.

Thanks again

"Looking at some of the comments they've left on gunbroker makes me not want to do business with them."

Link? What kind of comments?

Anyone know how to get a gift card without having to call them?

Thanks,

My LGS has almost always met or beat their prices.
Wow! That LGS is worth their weight in gold. I've never come across ANY dealer willing to do that. I'm lucky that I don't get thrown out the door when I mention Bud's in a gun shop. So many dealers absolutely hate them. But the vast majority of customers love them, and that's what matters I suppose.

I have bought 4 guns from them (2 are arriving at my FFL tomorrow and Thursday). They are trustworthy and cheap. They are kind of slow to ship at the moment; expect 4-7 business days. Communication can be a little slow or difficult if you are just wanting them to hurry up, but for me, the discount is worth the wait. They did seem more responsive when I dealt with an individual direct on line, rather than just ordered from the online catalog.

Anyone have good or bad experience with these guys.

I've made several firearms purchases from Bud's over the past three years. Good prices, quick delivery. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I've bought two firearms from them recently and you can't beat them. (If they have what you want)

I've bought several guns from Bud's. Probably the best bottom-line prices online, and they use 2nd Day shipping. My last purchase took five days from order to arrival at my FFL here on the left coast. Recommended!

Great experience and great prices. They are hard to get a hold of though if you have a question. I hate getting treated like **** from the FFL though. I bought a bitone sig p226 from buds for 700 bucks after this SIG DEALER said they could get me the same one for 1100. Plus I would have to pay sales tax too. I feel bad for local dealers.

Still waiting for my first order. I ordered on Feb. 22. Went to shipping Department Feb 28th. I still don't have a tracking number. Online chat told me to call the shop. Called the number I was given and an automated system instructed me to contact them via their website. I did that yesterday March 7th and haven't heard back yet (less than 24 hours so I'm not holding it against them)

Glad to see that mine is the only comment that is less than stellar because I am really looking forward to getting my order.

I buy from Bud's and have never had a problem.
As far as their shipping goes, long guns generally take longer than handguns but remember that you don't pay extra for shipping. That could be an extra $30-$50 or more depending on who you're buying from. A little patience goes a long way.

Bear in mind Bud's does a lot of drop-shipping from other distributors. So, if the gun isn't in stock at the distributor and Bud's web site hasn't been updated with that information, you end up waiting.

I have made a couple of purchases from Buds and the prices have been very good. It can take them a week to ship. I also traded a gun towards a purchase and received what I thought was a very fair price. I would rather buy locally but shops around me are generally 20% or higher on price. When they can get within 5-10%, I buy local.

As mentioned before, make sure you check Buds listed model # against the manufacturers model # that you want as their pics don't always match.

Also, inspect the gun thoroughly before doing the ffl transfer so you can return it free of charge if it is damaged or not what you wanted. Accept it, it's yours.

Bud's Ordering/Purchasing question:

I want to get the cash discount price and pay with either a check or money order (probably MO). When I go through the "buy now" button and go through the buying process, does it give you the option of sending in the MO or check in the process? I *assume* yes otherwise how would know what to make the check for?

I don't want to actually do it yet since I'm not ready to actually order.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Call in your order. That's how I've done all of mine. In fact, I was able to haggle them down another $10 once. Don't expect that though. That was long ago when they were almost unknown.

I have purchased a bunch from them. No issues. Everything was as described and arrived quickly.

My Turkish rug merchant Yuri, would be proud of you. :D

I recently purchased a gun from Bud's. Fair price, fast delivery. I'll buy from them again.

I should add, (I hope they are reading) that the web site can be frustrating.
Let's say you are looking for a Sig 225. (as I am) So you go to Bud's web site and look under Sig/Sauer. There are 10 pages of guns in no particular order with 50 guns per page.
So, you do a search.......put in Sig 225, and find everything that doesn't make sense.
Glock 19's, S&W's, I still have no idea what the search feature looks for. It sure isn't what I put in.

But if you find what you want......go for it.

You can click on the headers to sort them. I usually sort by "caliber" once I get to the category I want by going to "handguns", then in your example, "Sig/Sauer", then choose if they have subcategories like "revolvers', "autos", etc.

I have no complaints with Buds.

I recently bought a gun from them and would do it again...
but, their prices are a cash price, so, I paid with a check. It took 3 days for the check to be received, then they wait 5 full days to allow it to clear. Then, they waited another 3 days to ship it (and it WASN'T shipped overnight like I thought they had to be). So, good price, but a lengthy wait (just about 2 full weeks).

What's a check?

:p

That's the problem I may have: I don't know where I left my checkbook....
