First of all I know this is going to be pricey, but I will do it over time. Can anyone direct me the proper parts (receiver, scope, barrel, stock) to build an authentic Vietnam era m40 with proper scope, stock, sling etc. Thanks in advance.

Plus if you have pics of your own m40's I would love to lust over em.

Pretty sure a "M40" from that era is nothing more than a Rem 700 BDL Varmit without checkerboarding on the stock. Redfield 3x-9x was a typical scope

I saw them and handled them quite often tho never fired one when I was in the Spy Glass Alpha project for about 90 days. I did not know about the WINCHESTER trigger guard , how the hell was that pulled off! Yes early Model 700 Varmint in .308 with the Redfield scope mentioned and Redfield mounts which was the weak link ! I am sure the were not 40x Target guns. During the same time period I was MUCH more impressed with the Marine Sniper issue M70 Winchester Target 30-06 with a 10x Unertl , ohhh baby !
