I have a 3.5 by 10 Fullfield Burris scope my guess is about 15 years old. I bought the outfit used about 10 years ago with rifle. Shot it not long after buying it and did not notice this but this past week pulled it out to shoot again (don't want to wear it out I guess) and could not get the vertical cross hair focused. The horizontal one focused fine. No expert here but my friend who was shooting with is and he failed also.

Even with the cross hair fuzzy still was on target and can live with it but a distraction.

Have written Burris and have not heard back from them.

Thank you for any help.

Just have to be sure on this. . . . and I'm sure you do know. Are you screwing out the eye piece? I have to unscrew mine several millimeters.

+1

Focus the eye piece by pulling up and looking through the scope at the bright sky.
Keep turning the eyepiece in or out, and pulling up and looking again until the crosshairs are sharp & clear.

Do not try to adjust the eyepiece while staring through the scope, as your eye will try to adjust to the out of focus faster then you can screw the lens in & out.

perhaps I am ignorant, and if RC says check something you absolutely should, but if one axis of the reticle is in focus, shouldn't the other be as well? Sounds like a problem to me. If you send it in for warranty, keep your lens covers. New burris scopes don't come with any. (cheap penny pinching company........)

can't say i've ever heard of that before. will be interesting to see if the diopter adjustment fixes it or if it is in fact defective

Both I and my friend tried focusing it by screwing the eye piece both in and out. But we did so while look through the scope. Will try changing it while not looking through it just in case the eye is missing it.

You know I wonder about Burris, tried calling and finally gave up on that and sent email to their customer service. Any idea how long is reasonable to give them?

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. Will keep you posted.

took a couple of days for burris to email me back when I asked where the lens coverw were on my new scope. maybe 4 days (might have included a weekend) for the first email, and 2 days for the response to my reply.

Got email from them 8:59 last evening my time think three hours difference but at least two hours later than me. They are wanted me to ship it back to them. Only question the email left to me was cost factor, it was not addressed that I saw.

Thanks each of your for your thoughts, and experience with reply time for them.

Update: shipped back to Burris paying shipping to them only. Shipping took about a week each way and they may have had it about a week. Install it today and sighted it in. They refocused the scope and tested it. Pleased with their service. Impressed me. Was one other thing they did but slipped my mind right this minute.

Thanks to each of your for your help. Especially telling me to contract Burris.
