Burris Timberline Scope

I am considering purchasing one
Burris Timberline 2X-7X- 26 mm considering mounting it on a Marlin 336.
Any input?

I just put one on an 1895 Guide gun in 45/70. I havent even shot it in yet. But I can say that I like the size and clarity of it just fine. It fits the rifle about as good as a scope can fit a lever gun. It's going to the range this week and hunting next weekend. I opted for the Ballisticplex reticle, which I have on two other rifles in a Fullfield II, that I am very pleased with. The Timberline series also comes with the Burris "Lifetime" warranty, which I consider a big plus.

If it's a money thing, well..... go get one. But there are many better scopes that cost around the same price...do some research on the web.

The Timberline has not been so good for us here at the shop, no breakage, just quality as seen by the customer, reviews and Burris' reputation of late.

Thats the plan. I'm invited to a friends property where more hogs than deer are being seen right now. I hope to get my new rifle bloodied.

I have the scope and I have just moved it to my MAS 49/56. I think its a great scope and I have no quality issues that the other poster talked about. The scope is more than adequate has excellent optics and is compact. For the price I think its a good deal.

I went to the range today and sighted in the 45/70 guide gun. I think I will be very pleased with the Timberline scope. The minute of angle adjustments were "dead nuts". Exactly on paper what I dialed in. Clarity was as good as I'd expect in a scope in that price range. The part I was especially pleased with, was the aimpoints on the Ballisticplex reticle worked out so well with the Hornady Leverevolution ammo. I zeroed the main crosshair at 2" high at 100 yds. The second (middle) aimpoint down was dead on at 200 yds. I would have liked to try it at 300 yds on the fourth aimpoint (tip of thick vertical crosshair) just for grins but 200 is the max distance available at the range. My experience with Burris has been all positive. Even including a scope I had to send back a couple of years ago. At that time, their service was second to none.
