Has anyone picked up 1 of the 'new' Burris Timberline series scopes? I'm looking for a couple of compact scopes, 1 for a Marlin 1894 .22 mag, and 1 for my old Mini 14.
Burris makes good scopes, in my experience, anyway, they're compact, and reasonably priced - any input from actual users?
The Nikon Omega series seems promising as well, but they're also higher priced by a considerable ( at least on my budget!) margin. Anyone tried them out yet?
Thx

I put a swift 1.5 x 4.5 x 21 on my 1894 Marlin 44mag. Nice compact, very clear scope for about $100.

I have a burris timberline 2-7x26 with the ballistic plex reticle. I really like it. It is very bright for its size and I have been very pleased with it. I had it on a enfield .303 and have moved it to my MAS 49/56. It is compact and looks good. In my opinion a very good scope for the money ($149).

I have experience with both of those scopes:
A 3-9x40 Nikon Omega was on a bolt action .308
A 3-9x40 FFII was on a bolt action 30-06
A 2-7x32 FFII was on a Mini 14

All three scopes had quality glass and were very bright.

I believe that the Nikon Omega is parallax set for 75 yards. As such, it might be a good fit for the .22mag.

The 2-7x32 seems like a great match for the Mini 14 - it makes a nice trim package and the added magnification of the bigger scope may not be necessary considering that the Mini 14 is not a target rifle.

Also a good pick for the Mini 14 for close up work is the Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5-4.5x32mm.
