Burris Timberline

I have a need for a few short length scopes and have found the Burris Timberline. Thinking of going with one instead of a Leupold Rifleman or VX-I. Does anyone have experience with them. I will not be putting on any Magnums, any experiences appreciated.

Burris Timberline 2x - 7x with ballistic plex

I have one on a CZ 527 in 7.62 x 39 and it is working out great. The glass is very good; I can see small targets (e.g., birds or squirrels) clearly and see their true colors). The ballistic plex is very nice for taking longer shots by giving you a hold over point of aim.

However, the windage adjustment started to stick; it would not adjust and then suddenly it would race forward (get unstuck) to the adjusted number of clicks. Burris suggested I set the zero ring and then turn the windage knob fully left and then fully right several time to relubricate the gears in the knob. I am heading out to hunt and shoot in a few days so I will be able to test if this will solve the problem.

On the whole, Timberline scope is a great value. The click adjustments are accurate and repeatable. I have used this scope to shoot out to 600 yards at metal plates.

If your going to go Jap, then stick with the Nikons or Sightrons...the Burris timberline has been a 50/50 proposition for us here at the shop, we send them back for various things, but the thing is...we are having to send them back!

Go Nikon or better yet, check out the Sightron SII's.
