the other day was asking about ar brands...think bushmaster is the way I will go...now, I am wondering who has experience with the carbon fiber recievers
with the flat top AR15 from bushmaster? I've heard the carbon heats up extremely in use....I am not sure if it presents other issues. The gist is whether the lightweight of the carbon is worth it? thanks.

Last I had heard the only major issue with the Carbon 15 was that the tips of FMJ rounds would pock the carbon receiver underneath the feed ramps causing little pits that would eventually create feeding issues around the 5k-7k round mark.

I don't know if Bushmaster has corrected this already or not as the reports I am aware of are at least a year old and Bushmaster was aware of the issue.

I have a Carbon 15 M4. I've never noticed a significant heat build-up over what I've experienced with standard ARs/M16s/M4s. I did replace the carbon fiber upper receiver with an aluminium one because of the wear and tear issues pointed out by the good Mr. Roberts. The Carbon 15 is a good starting point for involvement with AR-type rifles.
