Im thinking about getting a Carbon 15 from Bushmaster. I have read many of the older posts about people having feeding issues and dust and dirt problems due to no dust cover. I did notice that most people were talking about having older ones that we made by another company other than Bushmaster and that those were the ones having problems. My question is, have most of these problems been taken care of? Im looking to hear from people that have some of the newer ones. Any help in this matter would be great.

Not really a direct answer to your question, but I do believe that Bushmaster honors their warranty even on the older Professional Ordnance guns.

I own a 97S with about 8k rounds through it. I use it for rabbit hunting. It's freakishly light and has virtually no recoil. I also own a carbon 15 SBR with about 6K rounds through it. I rebarreled it about 1000 rounds ago.

The 97S is still fairly accurate but it's ready for a new barrel. The only failure I have had is the bolt broke in 2 around the 7K mark and I'm on my second recoil buffer.

I think they are great, ultralight rifles.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I own a Bushmaster Carbon 15 (from after Bushmaster took it over from whoever). It was the first AR I owned (though I'd handled and shot others before), and it's served well.

I have since picked up an RRA mid-length A4 and fallen in love with the 2-stage trigger, so now I use the Carbon 15 with my Ceiner 22lr conversion kit for plinking and teaching my petite little sister how to handle an AR.

The one thing that bugged me about the Carbon-15 was the nicks that developed around the feed ramps from the bullet noses as they were feeding. It was only cosmetic for me, but I don't know what would've happened a few thousand rounds down the road.

The rifle is _very_light (so much so I was spoiled and found other ARs to be heavy), and that's great for small-framed shooters who might be put off by the weight of a more substantive gun, but for me I'm sticking to time-tested aluminum receivers (with the possible exception of the Cav Arms one-piece lower, but that's another discussion).

I've had mine for a few weeks now ands several hundred rounds. I like it alot. Bushmaster cured a lot of the problems with the Professional Ordinance model. Mine shoots and feeds like a champ. I really like the detachable muzzlebrake.
