Bushmaster vs DPMS Carbon 15

Re: Bushmaster. I still own 4 BM rifles, so I am no Bush-basher, per se. But I'll again observe that each rifle (purchased at roughly 6 year intervals over the past two decades) has been rather different. QC issues are not new or recent to Bushmaster - they seem to have good cycles, and bad cycles.

My first BM 20" A2 had an upper that was a problem child. I ended up just replacing the upper entirely. Some other minor issues along the way as well. Bolt was fine (even though it was not staked, and I'm still running that bolt in another upper 20 years later.

The second 20" A2 has run like a champ for 15 years. I got this to put in a two-stage trigger. Replaced the upper a few years ago just to have a flattop and scope.

The third 16" patrolman came along 6 years ago. This rifle feels completely different than the other two, very solid fit between upper and lower, just all around seems to be a bit better constructed. Mated it with an AimPoint Pro, and am quite pleased with it.

Bushmaster has had QC/QA issues for decades. The Carbon 15 has never been completely right.

My BM is staked thru out and is definitely not a carbon, but aircraft aluminum receiver. Feels solid in every respect. In fact I just shot it without even cleaning it at Front Sight in Pahrump, NV during there four day training section. I do believe we shot close to 800 rounds, all the way back to 200 yards.

I do know the guy shooting next to me had a DPMS and got terrible accuracy out of his, and several malfunctions, and he was about half my age, and an Alaska State Trooper. So go figure.
