DPMS and Bushmaster ARs become "desirable" when bankrupt?

This always happens! Company stops selling a gun because there is no demand but then some people think it is now valuable because they can no longer buy it.

Like the Colt 69xx AR rifles. Colt discontinues AR sales, now everyone thinks they are rare or collectable, or can command a premium.

I’ve already received a handful of calls over the last few months after Bushmaster has been closed, asking if I still had any of the new old stock Windham built lowers or two stage triggers I used to keep on hand... since I had not had a request for Bushmaster parts probably since 2010ish, I’m going to chalk that up as evidence at least SOME folks find them to be favorable, and want a piece of them now that the well is dry.

It's worth as much as what someone is willing to pay for it.
Happened with those colt recievers.

I tried calling a friend on the way home from work to get his take on this topic. He wasn't available. I have multiple friends that work at the Arms.

I doubt they'll collectible anytime in the next 20 years. Maybe the complete factory built rifles will after that. However the country is awash in parts built ARs and they'll never be collectible whether they have Bushmaster and DPMS parts or not.

Maybe at some future point the Bushmaster and DPMS brands will be resurrected.

IMO, there have been people who looked at Colt rifles as collectable or more valuable for many years.

I am not sure on Bushmaster or DPMS. I think a lot will depend on if you have one of the premium models or just the entry level gun. I don't know if any standard AR would command a premium unless you just found the right buyer who likes that brand.

DPMS and Bushmaster had been slipping for a long time, starting with Rock River and Stag products who were building a little nicer rifle for about the same money.

Along came the internet and people had access to all kinds of information about what they were actually getting, product reviews, and the opinions of industry experts. Those experts didn't think too highly of DPMS and chose other brands over Bushmaster.

Colt is the carbine standard and buyers were able to see that Bushmaster and DPMS were not up to the same standard, even if they never saw the difference when sitting at a bench at the shooting range.

Now we have companies like Palmetto, who had a big influence on ending those brands with higher quality product at a great price.

DPMS, Bushmaster, Anderson, Stag, Grizzley, Spike's Tactical, Ruger, S&W...not enough difference between them quality wise to make a difference in cost. Only if you care about the name.
