UPDATE - Buying a new gun (You pick it for me)

I am looking to buy a new gun, what I don't know. A lawsuit I was involved in just settled and I am getting about $5000.

I plan on buying one new gun. I don't want to spend more than $1500 on it.

The guns I was thinking of are in the poll (I know its a huge list) but please list any options that you would consider.

Thanks for the help. :)

UPDATE

I agreed with a lot of people here. I needed a Shotgun.

Note the past tense.

I Got the Coach Gun!

I'm going shooting on Wednesday, I'll report back.

Thanks for the help everyone.

definitely go for the shotgun, the gaping hole in your collection!

Good point, That shotgun goes for about $900. So, I could that and I could get a used CZ-75B for under $500 and still not exceed $1500.

hmmm....

You seem to have quite a few handguns already, so I think you should go with a long gun to even out your collection a little. I voted for the AR-10. Or perhaps an AR-15? How about building your own from parts? With the enormous aftermarket support for these rifles, it's like the adult's Lego system. I would be a fun and satisfying project, and you would probably end up saving quite a few bucks you can use for accessories or ammo.

I voted for the EAA Witness Hunter in 10mm --- you can get one for under $850 and still have cash left to get a nice shotgun. The Hunter in 10mm is a great gun -- worth way more then the asking price IMHO.

Think about looking for a used TTN 1878 hammer shotgun --- have seen used ones for around $400 and they are built like a tank.

Tough choice for me between the 12ga double and the 308 AR.

Ultimately the AR won out simply because you added 'may exceed but worth it' to the end, hinting that you may want it bad.

You need some more rifles and shotguns dude. Then if you're good next time you can get a 10mm handgun.

I just purchased an AR-10 and am very pleased with it. It is an awesome rifle -- you won't be disappointed.

I would suggest either an AR-15 or a Shotgun which will leave you enough out of your $1500.00 to buy an Springfield XD (in your choice of caliber) to add to your collection. It's a great gun for not alot of money.
:D

Voted "other." You're well covered with handguns. A shotgun is missing, but I wouldn't go for a coach gun for my only shotgun; I'd opt for a good pump action 12. But were I you, I'd be looking for a good quality bolt-action rifle in either .308 or .30-06--something that with good optics could reach "way out there." With $1500 tgo spend, you should be able to buy a good rifle and decent glass. But then, that's just me.

No 22 rifle? You may want to consider one of those. A CZ and good scope probably. Maybe even a Cooper on your budget.

Other than that I would go with the CZ 75.

You might consider one or another of the "Classics":
S&W Registered Magnum (pre-model 27)
Colt Python
WWII-era 1911
Colt Woodsman .22
Winchester model 70, pre-1964
A nice old double gun, Parker, Fox, L.C.Smith or the like. Perhaps Winchester model 21.

I've always been fascinated by the old Scheutzen rifles, but maybe that's too far Out There.

I'd get a 870 and a Marlin 30-30. You could hunt practically anything and would have enough left over for ammo for both.

I voted for the 327, but changed my mind agter reading the posts. You need a long gun. Check out a Marlin lever in 357 or 44 to go along with your other reolvers. You'd also have enough to get a shotgun or 22 rifle. The AR option would be tempting as well.

Dan Wesson 10mm 1911

You already have 1911s indicating that you shoot 1911s well, or at least an enthusiasm for them. A 10mm 1911 would compliment what you already have.

I'd also recommend you get a .22 conversion kit for your 1911s that would allow you practice/plink cheaply.

Perhaps instead of buying another firearm you should spend the $1,500 on training at one of recognized training centers. You already have a good selection of firearms and you'll get a lot of "bang for your buck" with professional training on one of those platforms.
