Yes, shoot it for a while before changing anything. As CoRoMo says, get the breech face fixed if it is not machined flat.

I added a Wilson extended slide stop and a Ruger ambidextrous thumb safety. I also added a Novak fiber optic front sight. I really like the front strap to be checkered. That is really expensive to have done, so I put on a very discreet and carefully cut and placed piece of "scateboard tape". Finally, I could not help myself, and put on the Ruger "EagleWing" Coco grip panels. Good to look at as it is to shoot.

Well, I went the other route with my R1. I got it with the intention of learning everything I could about the interaction and fitting of the various parts. Only remaining factory original parts are the slide, frame, and barrel. Mostly wilson and EGW parts, some nighthawk, nowlin extractor, ed brown bevertail fit with the jig. . . ext.

over 12K down the pipe since extensive modification. Runs without fail.

Just for shooting it in general? Extra mags.

For me I also like Wilson's oversize mag release, but I also have pretty small hands so I can't reach the mag release without seriously shifting the gun without it. I also occasionally shoot my 1911 in matches so mag change speed is an issue - if it was for carry or just casual target shooting I probably wouldn't bother.

Due note that just about ANYTHING for a 1911 (minus maybe grips and a few other minor parts) will require a bit of fitting. Don't go too crazy on swapping stuff in and out unless you are comfortable with and capable of doing that fitting.
