I have searched and can not find it.
I seem to remember a thread that had pics showing which beta mag was pre ban and which was post ban.
It might have even been on TFL but I cant seem to find it.

I have a chance to buy one at a good price , but I want to be sure its a pre ban.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Ah, don't worry about it... I hear the prison food is pretty good.

I think you are very smart to double check this. It's pretty scary what some unscrupulous people are doing. Breaking Gun Laws in ignorance is bad enough, but there are a lot of people out there who are knowingly selling items that violate the AW ban (not to mention other gun laws). :cuss:

If you happen to get an answer on this please post. I have an opportunity to purchase one of these from a good friend, but I won't depart with the money until I can find out for sure it is pre-ban.

I have contacted Ruben and Beta C with no response.

If you're in the Air Force, I'll tell ya: It's on the left drum cover looking from the rear as in the photo from their web site:

You are aware that TACOM has issued a Ground Precautionary Measure on the Beta C-Mag? It's not approved for any operational use in the Army. Look up GPM02-0007. Just thought you might want to know before you dropped big bucks on one. They are terribly unreliable. On a happier note, supposedly HK had reworked it for the SAW version of the XM8 and actually made a reliable magazine out of it. Don't know how many HK reworked mags even exist or if you could get one though.

Thanks for the info guys.

I did know about the TACOM, but am not getting this for duty use, would never fly with the AF in my careerfield. I take it they were causing jams of some nature, anyone know what I can expect?

I am going to make the purchase, since the price is definately right. I think I just made the deal of a lifetime.:D

Although the "LEO/Military Restricted" markings are on the left drum cover, aren't the serial numbers pressed into the front of the drum? So, a seller could replace the cover with an unmarked version, leaving only the serial number to determine its legality (which BATF would certainly know).

That would constitute MAKING of a high-capacity feeding device punishible by cat-stomping, wife shooting, dog shooting, son shooting, and tear-gas incineration. Do not do that. C-mag would probably want an exchange if you wanted to get the left side cover.

Badger, I've seen replacement drum covers for sale. Oddly, far more left ones than right...

My point was that, unless you know the pre-ban serial number range, there's a chance you could be buying a restricted BetaC, even though there are not such markings on the drum cover(s). I certainly wasn't advocating doing so.

Yeah, I saw the same thread. Don't remember where, though. Somebody bought a beta-c and sent it in for warranty work. The manufacturer had to look twice and check the serial #, because the work was done very well. Original purchaser got in very hot water, cause these mags have serial numbers, unlike most mags.

Save your money and get a shrike belt-fed conversion.
