The Midway shipping charge thread reminded me of this: 6 weeks ago, I sent letters to Midway, Brownells, and Southern Ohio Guns with a request to set up a C&R account. Each letter contained a copy of my C&R (signed in contrasting ink, natch) and every bit of contact info known to man (cell number, home phone, work phone, email address, home address, et cetera). Four days after mailing the letters, I got an email from Midway with instructions for setting up my account. I've used it three times since. SOG responded by sending me a monthly flyer (which contains login information), and I got it about three weeks after sending the letter. Have already bought a pistol from them. Brownells? Not a word as yet. Oddly, I haven't made a Brownells order since mailing the letter.
My point? Midway is impressively on top of things, it seems. SOG less so, but not entirely insensate. Brownells is, apparently, completely asleep-- maybe they'd just as soon not offer C&R accounts but don't want to say so. I don't know.
Does anyone have experiences with setting up C&R accounts that they'd care to share? It might help in deciding what other companies I should send my license to.
Thanks,
Andy
