C&R...Again!

I printed up the forms. Filled them out, including the citizenship one. Then I made 2 copies of each form. I kept one copy for myself and send one copy to the local police chief with a letter stating my intention as a collector to obtain a C&R FFL. I mailed the original to the BATFE. I never heard anything from the local police and my FFL arrived in about 3 1/2 weeks.

When I was applying for my C&R, I called my local PD to ask about what to do with their copies. They have a "gun desk" that handles such items. I don't think the PD gets to "approve" or "deny"... they're just being CCed. Now, if you were a felon, under investigation, etc. I'm sure they would call the ATF. But I'm pretty certain it's just a formality.

Oh, yeah, and I printed the forms from the Internet. IIRC, they had to be printed on legal-sized paper. But you don't need pre-printed forms.

I downloaded forms on regular sized paper, sent em in and had the license in 27 days.

Didn't have to fill out a Certificate of Citizenship back then.

UP for my renewal in few months.
