I have question about using my C&R license in person in restrictive states. My kids live out of state. One lives in Texas and the other in Maryland so when visiting them I will hit some gun stores.

I don't figure Texas to be a problem if I want to buy a C&R firearm. Just give them a signed copy of my C&R and the Dino.

How does it work in Maryland? Handgun laws are strict there. Long guns aren't as bad. Can I just hand over my license and the Dino and walk out of the store. Assuming I can how do I legally transport it?

I would contact some FFL's in Maryland to see what their policy is. Remember that regardless of the state. Not all FFL's accept C&R.

In Maryland, the C&R (03) FFL has no recognition or status whatsoever.

Maryland has so-called "regulated" firearms, and "unregulated" firearms. Regulated firearms are handguns and "assault rifles". Since sale of the latter has been banned, the category really includes only handguns. So for those, your C&R license is no good.

For unregulated firearms, there are no state restrictions. Your C&R FFL might be OK for buying, say, a 98 Mauser, if the dealer chooses to recognize it, but it won't cut any ice with handguns, except antiques (same definition as Federal law).

If built before 1898 they are not "guns" at all, C&R or otherwise. They are "antiques".

But, basically, you aren't going to buy anything in MD unless you are a resident ... and even then it can take months.

md doesn't recognize the C&R at all for handguns. Not sure how they have been able to get away with their law as it regards the C&R but that is the way it is.

Don't spend $$ in md, cross over the boarder to a free state which is always close and buy things there.
