Ugh. This is beyond ridiculous. The ammo law is especially onerous and there is some confusion as to whether or not the law applies to component bullets as well as assembled cartridges.

And what will this accomplish? I know that I'm going to spend a lot of time stockpiling between now and 2019, and I'm sure a lot of other gun owners are going to be doing the same. The law will effectively put more ammo into civilian circulation than there would have been otherwise.

I never worried about having much .22lr on hand, as you could buy it cheap at lots of places. That changed. Last week, a LGS got a big shipment of MiniMag HPs at a great price, with no limits. I bought 12K rounds....

I've been buying 9mm and .45acp in case lots for the last several months. Will continue to do so as long as it's available. It will not be cheaper in California in the foreseeable future.

Many people will give up and sell their semi-autos or guns or leave, and there will be fewer gun owners to oppose the next round of legislation. Not much the remaining gun owners can do about it either, so I suggest folowing suit while you can; the state has made you their enemy, and clearly seeks to harm you in any way it is permitted to.

This is akin to that "long train of abuses pursuing a single object" of tyranny which Jefferson referred to.

Moving out simply isn't going to be an option for myself and a lot of others.

We came to the state specifically because my wife had an opportunity to advance several rungs on her company ladder and take a nice pay raise. Jobs are incredibly hard to find these days, and near impossible to land from out of state. Further, long moves are expensive.

Not every California gun owner is going to be in a financial position to just bail out.

Granted.

All you can do is save as much as you can to finance an early retirement. :banghead:

Two and a half years ago I took a Louis Awerbuck transition from long arm to pistol and vice versa class (one of the last classes he ever taught). I showed up with my 30-30 lever action for the long arm (I had taken other of his classes with semi auto rifles and shotguns so i wanted to learn a differ class of long arm under his tutelage). He said the way things were going we may all end up with just these. Essentially, in CA this will be true if you don't own and register a mini-14 or M1a by Dec 31 2016 he will be correct. Sad sad day for us in CA.

I've retread SB880 a few times. I thin if you have a mini-14 ranch, garand, and M1 carbine without a pistol grip and no threaded barrel, it doesn't qualify as a assault weapon that needs registration and should be able to buy moving forward. Now, the M1a has a traded barrel so will be an issue. I'm feeling marginally better. Will be looking more into, this.

California??

Gene Simmons once said, "Everyone does not live in Los Angeles."

He is 100& correct.
