I'm interested in knowing which of the above rifles that you own, living in California.

If you choose 'other', will you please specify? Thank you.

Own them all ! 3 pre Bush ban AKs (moved one to Oregon to keep the hk91 AND 93 COMPANY :D ). 4 ARs, 2 FNFALs,1 flash hidered 1980 M1a,a Calico 9mm and a .22, an Uzi b model, Barret .50 sa and others. I was wise enough to grandfather them in prior to the New Milenium and the utter stupidity that followed!:neener:

CA legal semi-auto rifles I currently own...
Underwood M1 Carbine
Tula SKS
ATI GSG-5
JD Machine "AR15A4 mid-length type carbine" (BB mag lock)

CA legal semi-auto rifles I recently sold...

CA legal semi-auto rifles I am looking at acquiring...

RAAC Saiga-762
FN SCAR-17S (BB mag lock)

Your list seems focused on semi-autos. I'd choose a lever action in 30-30 before I'd choose any of the other ones (assumes I have a pistol as a back up weapon) on the list. This will lead to many folks complaining how it isn't the best weapon for self defense, etc. You know, that could well be the case. However, I enjoy it more and I'd rather start with the rifle I enjoy most (range work and hunting) which I do often than buying something for the much lower percentage home defense scenario.

As for semi-autos, anything that requires bulltet buttons, fixed magazines, devices so you don't have a pistol grip, etc to comply with a CA law, IMO is no longer a viable self defense weapon. This knockes out the AR and AK platforms IMO for CA.

Excuse me, but didn't you forget to ask for real names, home addresses, phone numbers and personal photos. Isn't that the purpose of such questions?

The paranoia Master Warning light came on when this thread began, and with the related insane laws in Ca, can understand.
Glad to live in TN.

Does CA have gun shows? They don't in Wisconsin (because of Madison).

Cal has gun shows. We also have a bunch of liberals that control the law and won't let me have a can. I could do without full auto, but the can is what bothers me the most. Want one bad on my LR build.

Matt-J2:
Sorry that my info was wrong.
A few months ago we spent a night at a hotel on the Madison capital square, and the young valet/driver (who has a few rifles) told me that WI did not allow gun shows.

For those of you who have participated, thank you for your discussion thus far. :)

You probably wont believe it, but I'm not trying to rob people.

I'm an anthropologist who also happens to be an avid shooter - I combine my interests by studying gun culture. I am researching the effects of legislation on our buying habits. Purely innocent intentions.

why would you buy an AR or AK and not have the detachable mag? doesn't that defeat the whole purpose?
