As a CA resident, if I take a vacation in Nevada...can I legally purchase magazines, ammo, etc... and bring it back into CA (CA legal stuff of course)

Also, can I purchase Nevada legal magazines etc.. just to use while I in Nevada on vacation? Or do I need a Nevada ID for that? Would I be able to sell them back to a gun store or something before I come home?

The only thing they really look for is that you're over 21 when buying handgun ammo.

If you have friends/family out of state, you can mail the naughty magazines to them. It's no reflection on you, you just can't bring them back with you :). You can still own them.

If you are thinking Vegas don't visit the range store that advertises machine gun rentals they check IDs for mag purchase no CA people please. If you found yourself at Master Shooter Supply on the west side of town don't trip over the boxes of old mags on the floor, just a tip. :)

ha ha!

are shops in nevada supposed to check id for mag sales? or is just a preference thing?

I think you can bring it back. The only problem is that when you cross the magnetic meridian your mag. springs will all go soft thus rendering the whole unit inoperable.

Same thing happens to Nancy Pelosie every morning when she puts in her false teeth.

a 10> round mag is legal in CA no matter where you bought it, same for ammo as long as it's not linked. There is no law against you buying a 30rd mag in Nevada, as long as it doesn't enter CA, though I can understand dealer on the border towns being leery of Californians. I am still (technically) a CA resident and I own all sort of goodies that have been banned in CA, so when I go to CA I don't bring said "goodies".

guntodd, it is preference. So when in town I do not spend my money there. Master Shooter Supply is a Mom and Pop deal you and your money will be welcome there. Just be careful and not fall down and hit your head on a box of old pre CA ban mags they are everywhere. It is legal to purchase normal cap mags when you are out of CA it is also legal to purchase and have shipped to CA rebuild kits for mags that were made before the CA ban. It just don't make a lot of sense to buy, shoot a few times, and then throw a perfectly good mag away. Maybe you will want to stick with old pre CA ban mags from the boxes on the floor as they will be less costly than the new mags in the display case. Just don't bring them back with you. Give them to a fellow shooter or trash them. :D

25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
(A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
(C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
(Penal Code Sec. 12020 (c)(25) )

It is unlawful for any person to manufacture, cause to be manufactured, import into the
state, keep for sale, or offer or expose for sale, or give or lend, any large-capacity
magazine. (Penal Code § 12020(a)(2).)

There it is for us law abiding folks......too bad the true criminals just laugh at these laws.:neener:

The people at The Gun Store on Tropicana won't even talk to you if you are from California. When I first moved my truck did not have Nevada plates yet and they would not sell me any high cap mags even though I had a Nevada ID.
I haven't really used them since. I went in one time and asked if they had a Glock 20 and was basically laughed at by the counter guy who told me anybody would be stupid to purchase a gun for a dying round. Great sales technique there.
Most of the other shops in town are much more friendly. Still it is not advisable to take anything back to Cali that is questionable.
