At the gunshow this weekend. Ol' boy has a huge monster bull barrel rifle set out there, along with a loaded round (minus the primer) sitting on the table beside it. Built on a Win 70 action. Ol' boy was busy helping actual customers so I didn't want to bother him with simple curiosity questions.
So anyhow, the barrel was marked "6mm-.284-.270"
Now the "6mm-.284" part makes perfect sense because that's exactly what the round looked like - a .284 win or 6.5-284 case with a very long (107 gr?) 6mm bullet in it. Think big brother of .22-243 Middlestead proportions. The weird part is the extra ".270" on the end of the cartridge designation. I can't figure out what this round has to do with the .270. Hmmpf.
