In Texas, not only can he look it up, but you are legally required to produce your CHL along with your driver's license, if you are carrying. If you are not carrying, then you do not have to produce the CHL. With that said the general consensus is that if you are stopped, you are better off to produce the CHL whether or not you are carrying. I have been stopped once. I handed the officer both documents when he approached the window. He says, "You are a CHL holder?". I told him that I was. He then asked me if I had "it" with me. I said "Yes". Then he asks where "it" is. I tell him, "It is in a holster on my right side". He then says "Ok. if you don't reach for yours, I won't reach for mine". I say "OK". He then asks me what is "it", and I respond "Glock 19". His response, "Niiice, have a good evening and get your headlight fixed".
