I live right near the border of NC and SC. My wife and I went to a range down in Greenville that we really liked and i would like to take our concealed carry class down there. However, we need permits for NC. I don't know if this is allowed? Does anyone know?

I think the answer is maybe, my instructor had certification from the state to teach our class. But I see that an NRA instructors have authority. Best call the range and ask.

From the Durham County Sheriff FAQ site:

Does the Durham County Sheriff’s Office have a list of approved firearms safety courses?

The Sheriff’s Office does not sponsor or endorse any particular firearms safety course. However, approved courses must be certified or sponsored by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the National Rifle Association. Most local gun dealers and pawn shops have a list of instructors.

The instructor must have certification from NC to teach the NC class, and he/she must teach the NC class to you. There is no requirement that the class be conducted in NC.

You have to take a NC course for a NC CHP. Since NC doesn't do non-res permits, I wouldn't bet on an NC course being available in SC. It would be best to call that range and ask.

You need to mentally prepare yourself for a video with some of the worst acting ever, narrated by a man that could put Ben Stein to sleep...
