Can't find the right rifle: short, light, 308, threaded, with mag?

I bought the Ruger Predator in .308, did the AI mag conversion for $28, mounted a Nikon 3x9 P-Tactical scope, gave it a custom camo job, and am happy as a clam with it.

Of course, I'm just a poor white-trash East sider that doesn't know any better...

But, it does shoot...

Of course, it's not as smooth as my Pre-`64 Winchester custom rifle in .30-06 Ackley Improved, or quite as accurate, but for $700 total, it is my new favorite woods gun.

Pretty cool.

In that price range I'm getting a predator. If I move up to the midrange I think the gunsite scout is the winner, and at the high end that Sako that comes with both the hunting and the precision stock is interesting.

I do wish Remington still made nice rifles.

very happy with my 18" version. added 1 pound of steel inside the stock to help with balance and recoil. also added nice bolt handle from Glades Armory.

Remington 783 16.5” barrel
I have a silencer co-omega 300 on it and it’s slays deer with no more noise than a 22
super handy makes a great track gun or hunting rifle easy to maneuver in a blind or a tree stand and it’s super cheap you can’t go wrong
