Hello,

Few pics of my only rifle, a Valmet Petra .308 imported from Germany, in various ''costumes'' over time, going through experimental phases. Actually the original butt stock was damaged, I repaired it the best I could but for hunting I replaced it with an ATI stock, purely for practical purpose...I got back to wood when not hunting, all alterations were temporary apart of the threading on the barrel to fit a Finnish Jaki suppressor, so the rifle is basically always going back to its original setup that is actually quite perfect and I shoot best with iron sight only. I plan to shorten the barrel by 2'' because the suppressor is permanently on, and the rifle is now a bit too long for hunting in thick bush, the vinyl cover is also to protect the rifle from scratches...I have a 5, 10 and 2 x 20 rnds mags for it.

A former coworker had a 5.56x45 version in military dress he carried as long gun in patrol vehicle.
It was a tack driver. Under 1.5moa with match grade ammo. Had decent trigger too.
It was perhaps the finest derivative of the AK genre.

The pistol grip layout and the position of the trigger made no sense at all until I saw the original wood stock...

...made me look through an annual catalogue from the late 80s.

I remember they used to import Valmets for a very short period, during the same time the SIG 550 and FAMAS derivatives were...

...a nice rifle, yours is.
