I have been looking at the CZ 75b, a CZ 85 combat, and a XDM.
I just can't choose, all feel good in my hand.
Just looking for a 9mm for the range for some less expensive shooting, but also want it to be accurate.
What would you choose?

CZ 75 is a good gun or a Taurus PT92 excelent and in the right price range.

Never owned a CZ-75. I have owned a CZ 75 SP-01 and it was an excellent shooter, very accurate. I have also owned a Springfield XDm in 9mm. It was also accurate, but I would have to give the CZ the nod over the XDm.

Nothing wrong with any of the choices you've considered to date. Allow me to add a Walther P99 into the mix. If you take one out and run some ammo through it, you'll be amazed at how solid and reliable and accurate it is. And if you get one with the AS trigger configuation, the chances are pretty doggone good that you'll end up buying the Walther ahead of everything else on the market, regardless of price, IMO.

All the mentioned choices are fine. Take a look at the Ruger SR9, its a best buy and has some great ergos.

Isn't anyone going to suggest the XDM over the CZ 75B, me neither. CZ over XD, any CZ vs any XD. If you want to compare plastic to plastic the CZ SP 01 Phantom prefered to XD. EAA Witness Match is a good choice, good trigger. XD is a good billboard, lots of graphics, rail for mostly useless at the range stuff.

I have the XDm 9mm and the CZ75b in 9mm... for shooting range accuracy, CZ hands down. you can also do trigger work on the CZ75 like a 1911.

the CZ75b is one scary accurate firearm :)

JOe

My original thought was the CZ, and by the looks of the replies I think that is what I'm going to pick up.
Now should it be the a 75b or the 75b sa?
I have to check them both out. Also as I have posted in a different thread, there is a used 85 combat in a local shop around here.
Such hard decisions!!!

Witness Elite Match 9mm (custom shop match-grade gun with the best trigger you can get for the money BY A MILE). At around $500 you could spend $3k more and not end up with a more accurate pistol or any better of a trigger).

Of those, the XDM

But try a Glock 34 before you try anything else, and then compare everything against it.

Then buy one.

Get a Taurus or XDM cuz you want something wiht a lifetime warranty for range use. If your gonna put alot of rounds down range for the next 10 years get the Taurus they are built like a Ford -built to last.

I am new to handguns, but my SW mp pro 9mm sure is accurate. 450+ rounds through it and lovin every bit of it. On another note, I am like many fortunate souls that are unemployed, but have lots of time, ammo, and acouple of new hand guns to play with. My decision on the 2 latest purchases have been based on the fact I liked the feel of both in my hands, and if they are made in the USA. I figure me buying American made I help some guy (who has a job I envy)busy making another gun another day! (Correct me if I am wrong but SW mp pro 9 and Kahr cw9 are made in the USA)

but also want it to be accurate.
Accurate.... than you want a CZ for a range gun. It a scientific fact that CZs are more accurate, because they use the ultra rare pixie dust in the manufacturing process of CZ barrels. ;)

Of those, the 75B. The 85's ambidextrous controls are not of substantial benefit unless you're left-handed. The XD-M can certainly be a "fun" gun - as can any gun - but it doesn't quite fit in here.

For the usage you describe, you might also consider the SP-01 and the 75B-SA (a single action only version). The SP has superfluous (for daytime range use) saw teeth and knife edges to hang junk off the frame :p , but it adds extra weight in front for even further reduced recoil. It also has a 19-round magazine. As for the SA, for "fun" shooting on the range it is unlikely you will spend a lot of time drilling fast "double taps" on the DA/SA transition, so why not have a SA version to start with? You can use the 75B or 85 in this manner, too, of course, but I personally find the thumb safety a little too far forward and flat to the gun for easy usage.

CZ, no question, either the 75 or 85 and if you want one to also carry get a PCR or P-01.

Well given your choices, I would probably go with the CZ75. Having said that, my own personal preference would be a Browning Hi-Power.

My pop's 9mm XDM is as or more accurate than my SIG p226. I also though that it had an equally smooth and solid action. Never shot a CZ.
