The best combat 9mm in your opinion

Glock 26
Beretta 92FS Compact (in INOX)

Purely my opinion, I own both and have relied on them for CCW.

1. Walther P38. A timeless classic with a proven record of service.
2. P5 ... the ultimate extension of the original.
3. P88 ... considered by many experts to be the finest 9mm handgun ever made.

I would not be anxious to take a plastic pistol into combat.

IMHO, today's best would be a polygun w/ proven reliability, durability and accuracy. That said, my 1 & 1a would be the HK USP 9 or the Glock 17/19

Before today I would have put S&W's M&P on the top of my list because it handles and shoots so well in my hands (my most important measurement factor) as well as being 100% reliable through several 1000's of rounds so far. It is like a Glock with a bit of ergonomic fine tuning.

However, today I just received a Steyr M-A1 and it feels even better in my hands. If it turns out to be as reliable and accurate it will top my list.

I think any gun considered for your definition oughta have been
at least adopted by a major military service - the rest are
waana be's.

My vote goes to the TZ99. A South African version of the Yugoslavian(now Serbia) Crevena Zastava CZ99 built on a blend of Sig and walther design.

Does it go bang? Does it go bang... pretty much no matter the conditions? Do bullets come out the end, and hit what they're pointed at, pretty much every time?

If so, then it gets the Four Nine Foxtrot Stamp of Approval. I'd be proud to carry any of the fine examples of modern personal armament listed in this thread into combat. Especially several at the same time, and particularly if I didn't have to pay for them.

I like my Sig P226. It fits my hand like it was made for it. We understand each other, my Sig and I. Oh, she nags me a little. "You don't take me out as much as you used to", "Have you been shooting another gun?", "Lately, when you've cleaned me, it hasn't felt as intimate. Do you still love me?" She keeps pestering me to get a CCW, to take our relationship to the "next level", whatever that means. I keep explaining that there's nothing I would like better than to make our relationship right in the eyes of God, instead of living in sin as we do, unable to associate in public... hiding our relationship from the world... but that it just isn't allowed where we live.

Other than that, though, we get along fine.
