Harless was placed on medical leave and other officers donated their sick days to him when his paid sick-leave time ran out.

The union had asked for an extension for the disciplinary hearing due to Harless being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Unfortunately, he was fired, and we will address that situation at a later time.

Well, heck. I'm sure he's still qualified to go to work for the BATFE helping guns so-called "walk" to Mexico. I don't know how they glue little legs to guns, but I imagine there's some ultra-digital whizmatic super-duper advanced new technology involved. Government leads the way, you know.

The fact that other officers were donating sick days to him show that his attitude may be shared by others in that dept.

PTSD is not a mental illness it is a condition and the officer did not violate the law he simply acted stupid and broke department regs.

Having said that, lets see if he can now qualify for a concealed pistol under Ohio's law.

I also suspect that if he really didn't have PTSD before, being fired off a police department is stressful enough to give it to him. Good luck finding another job. Maybe he will become a greeter at the local Walmart.

He was not fired because of what he did, he was fired due to public pressure. He will probably go right to work for another department. If there is a civil judgemant will he even have to pay or will the department pay?

First, he is trying to get a medical retirement for mental issues, and what about Aggravated Menacing? Just because he wasn't charged, doesn't mean he committed no crime.

It is unlikely that another department would hire him do to the public outcry over what he did. It also opens that department up to future liability. He actually did get fired for what he did. What he did caused the public pressure to oust him because no one else wants to be threatened by this numbskull.

This whole situation makes me sick...from the incidents themselves, to the sick time, to the excuses of PTSD. Words cannot express...and this is why I don't dial 911

talk about reluctant justice! I think that department needs some house cleaning if it took this long for some action. the seed is much deeper and this guy was thier poster child.

Keep going all the way up...local, state, nation wide reform is needed. Sadly, this stuff happens all the time...and 90% I'm sure we don't even hear about for fear of retaliation from big brother
