Thompson Center made a #11 nipple with a hole in the side for their guns called a Hotshot nipple. When my Walker got into the habit of blowing nipples out of the back of the cylinder I bought 6 of them and rethreaded the holes to accept the Hotshots. This cured the problem. Slick shot nipples are pretty much the same thing.
JR1957. So the Hot shot and Slix Shot have a different threading than Uberti threading?? Did understand that correctly?

At the time I changed out the nipples it was go back to factory which not an option as the holes in the cylinder were oversize so I opened them up and threaded them for the hotshots. The hotshots are a1/4 28 thread so to answer the question yes they are different.

Jackrabbit1957 So, for instance, if I bought them for my Pietta 1860 the threads in the revolver would have to be drilled then retapped? Thank you z

Lots of good advice here. Ballistol is your friend, use lots of it, all the time. I use a bit of Bore Butter on the arbor, but any non-petroleum grease will do. I like felt wads, they are less messy than grease and improve accuracy - at least in my guns - in both .36 and .44. Instead of using loose powder, I pre-load powder charges and store them in brass cartridge cases, with a silicone plug stopper. A bottleneck case like a .223 or .308 acts like a little 'funnel' and works like a champ. I've never had a chain fire, but I also use balls sized so that a little ring of lead is shaved off on seating, insuring the cylinder is tightly sealed.

Zulch, as mentioned by the last fellow, Track of the Wolf has direct replacement nipples that will screw right into your Pietta cylinder. The case with my Walker was a 1 off deal with having to get creative and make something else work at the time. I have heard but don't know for sure that Slixshot nipples were not being made anymore, anyone know for sure?

Thank you ASM. I appreciate it. Z

Thanks for posting that info, really helps. So far I haven't had to replace any more nipples on my stuff or on customer guns, what does amaze me is how much the prices have gone up!

Unfortunately or fortunately however you look at it ive amassed quite the collection of slix shot nipples.
They are direct fit.

Uberti and ASM use the same nipple size and thread.

Pietta is 6 × .75

I also have some slix shot on pocket models that fit superbly

I change all my nipples as soon as i get a new bp revolver. Not because the stock ones dont work but because Slix shot or tresos fit my remington, cci and rws caps perfectly.

Also the stainless steel nipples are a huge upgrade over the soft carbon steel italian nipples.

I have found that CCI #11 are loose on both of my Navies. One is a Pietta the other a Uberti.
Lyle, What is interesting to me is that CCI 10's slid on my Uberti Walker like a hand and glove but none would ignite. Tried my CCI 11's and ever so slightly pinched before seating them and BAM! Literally, they all worked. Therein lies the perplexity. Why wouldn't the 10's fire? Do caps have a slight taper? If so, that may explain why they didnt work..

BlackPowderWarrior, Thank you, So, are SlixShot cones fitted for # 11 size caps? No pinching necessary? If so, that sounds like a no brainer. You've mentioned this to me before. I think I'm gone have to get me some of these. Them being stainless steel makes even better sense for cleanup.:thumbup:
