Might have something to do with modern caps vs CW caps. Aren't modern ones thinner material?
Thinner and made of brass. CW vintage are thicker and made of copper.

SO, I guess it's the way I shoot that avoids cap jams.
He even told me that just "knowing" it had coils instead of flats ( even though you couldn't see them) would bug him !!!

The Hawg is a no-compromise individual!
I have no doubt about that but I don't need it and I don't want something on a gun that the originals didn't come with.
Just so you are aware, some of Colt’s competitors put cap shields on their revolvers. Manhattan comes to mind. Colt thought proper fitting caps were the solution. He was right back then because the caps were made from copper. Today they are made with a harder material that splits way to easily and falls off the cones.

True but I'm also kinda weird. I

I'm a real believer in cap posts. The only percussion revolvers I have ever used that were completely, 100%, just-like-a-centerfire reliable have them installed. Even the best of the rest, using all the tricks, were "almost always" reliable.
that’s good man! war is good for no oneI missed Vietnam by a year.
???It's a good thread. If you never get a jam, you don't need no stinking cap-post. I think that's understood. ? Hawg...you okay?
Probably...cleaning guns and posting at 1:30am, I'd be half asleep too...im thinking a deformed or bad cap caused your single issue, or something similar to that...Probably half asleep.

Until it does!
I don't sleep well. Two or three hours at a time.
I have no doubt if I had been shooting it it wouldn't have happened
Dang it Hawg, sleep is one of the few things I do well. 9 hours is what I do, and sometimes ten. ! Early to bed, late to rise. When I get sick with a bad cold or flu, I probably double that. Might be kind of a "no brain, no pain" type of thing.
