carbide sharpeners any good?

A tool like that can be used to put a "utility edge" on a knife. It will make the knife sharp enough to cut.

I'd be pretty upset if anyone used something like that on any of my knives.

That's what I thought, I use old carbide planer blades from a hand power planer to spark ferro rods and do rough sharpening of camping tools. Its light weight and works well. But these blades are not at a 90 Degree angle.
