Spyderco Tenacious or Endure with wave?

I'd go with the Endura. VG 10 is good steel. Don't have any experience with whatever that steel is on the Tenacious. Never used a knife with a wave on it so can't comment on it except to say it looks unnecessary, IMO.

I would choose the Endura. It has a slightly longer blade (3 3/4 vs 3 3/8), and uses VG-10 vs 8CR13MOV. The Emerson opener is nice, but isn't a deal breaker either way.

I have both. The tenacious is a good knife for the money. It is a little on the heavy side and wish the handle was rougher or less smooth.

The endura is a little too long for my preference and the wave feature is not that important to me.

The delica is more of the size I prefer, and I believe it too can be found with the wave.

I carry the delica the most. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Heck, I am a Ninja and I still dont need a wave on my knives.

I do have a wave device on my wheelbarrow...

the wave feature is easily done with a grinder, I wouldnt pay any extra for it.

Definately seems that no one is that big of a fan of the wave feature. Since this is my first knife that I will be carrying everyday and the first knife that I will take a stab at sharpening with, I am just going to order the plain edge Tenacious. That was if I mess up the blade I won't feel so bad.

Well, I'm no ninja either, but I love my waved Delica. I don't always have my other hand free (or I don't want to free it) when I need a knife. It comes in very handy working around the house and at the office.

I have waved Spydercos before with a dremel, and while they work, they are nowhere as good as the factory waved model. I guess it has to do with the height and angle that they achieve on the factory blade.

Non ninja checking in.

I have the waved Endura plain edge in VG-10. Going on almost 3 years now. Truth be told I didnt know what it was. I got it for the handy beer opener on top of the blade  I discovered the true meaning behind it by accident.

If you do any kind of blue collar work that requires gloves, this is where it shines. One handed opener, without springs, fast as a fixed blade, while wearing leather work gloves. Cleaning up yard after hurricane Ike, I used it to cut coax cable. (I know but it was handy) I have used it to cut packing rope reinforced with inconel wire. I am very hard on it.

It has been my EDC since the day I got it. I am still on the same one. It is what I used to learn how to sharpen on. I get more seperation anxiety from misplacing it than my Blackberry.

I have bought others since including : Spyderco Native (S30V) and Delica (VG 10) Kershaw Blur (S30V). I still carry the Endura. The paint is gone off the pocket clip, the scratches are on the blade.

I might be a lil biased. :p

eta: I heve yet to see any wear on my pockets. The wave is fairly blunt.

As a tenacious aficionado I can say you'll be more than happy with your purchase. The wave isn't worth the money, especially since it can be replicated with a trimmed ziptie in the spyderhole.(I use two because the zip ties stay in one spot better)

The endura is a better knife though and if you have the money, down the road I'd get a flat ground g10 endura, but that's just me. Many people dig the saber grind and frn handle. Had you not said that you were somewhat inexperienced with sharpening I'd say you should have gotten an endura right away. While the Tenacious is a good knife, the Endura is better.

edit: and as mall ninja looking as it is, like mot said, it is exceptionally handy when your hands are full or you're wearing thick gloves. It's also great for speedy deployment with certain knives that don't naturally come out fast. (ie- the tasman salt is somewhat awkward/slow to open compared to an endura or tenacious)

Don't get me wrong, I do like the wave, it just isn't a required. If presented with a waved & non-waved Endura, I would generally choose the waved version. Either way, I would still pick the VG-10 over the 8CRMOV.
