Since carbide dies work so well on pistol cases with no lube would a carbide sizer button work to resize rifle cases with no lube inside the neck?
While carbide may eliminate the need to lube, it can still pull the neck of a rifle case significantly.
An expander ball is needed to reload all calibers as standard dies size the brass down way more then needed. Most .010" or more. The only time an expander button is NOT need is when using bushing dies along with neck turning. If you don't use an expander, the bullet becomes the expander. If you have custom fitted dies not using an expander button would be an exception.Exactly WHY I don't use an expander ball when loading my rifle cartridges.
I agree with USSR. Neck bushing dies are the best way to go.
