When I bought mine i the early 80's (for $65 bucks with 400 rounds of battle pack ammo, it had a short barrel of about 18", and a date stamp of 1907 - LOVED a Sierra 120 gr with 3031 and had less recoil than my 7-08. Had a great smith in Carson City bend/weld the bolt handle to allow drill/tap for a scope
